OUR SPM PRINCIPLES
Students are always rewarded when adhering to the SPM principles while playing
1
Respect / Sportsmanship:
This is respecting the equipment, rules, and pupils. Respect in other words is a form of being nice and thoughtful. Sportsmanship is very similar but using those respect traits with someone that your unfamiliar with such as the opposition.
2
Teamwork:
Not every sport can be played alone. Not every task can be completed alone. We encourage students to use their teammates to achieve an objective. One person can take 100 shots, but that person needs their teammates to support them to get into a position for 100 shots. Praise those who are willing to show empathy and teamwork to others.
3
Effective communication:
This is key in sports & everyday life. Knowing how to speak to people to receive a positive response, Providing the right information to peers to support others. Helping someone get better via communicating helps each individual and is a sign of respect.
4
Work ethic:
This principle is hugely important. Without hard work, objectives won’t be met, students won’t be having fun and the session will feel like a soulless environment. We encourage, praise, and reward the hard workers. Work hard for yourself and your team. Make yourself proud of our work rate.
5
Leadership:
Everyone can be a leader. Being a leader is about listening to others and providing key information that will benefit those around you. Being a leader is about using your initiative and putting others ahead of you when necessary. Helping people help you is a key trait of being a leader. We encourage and praise whenever we see signs of leadership.
Meet The SPM Team
-
Hi, I’m Michael Cooper, CEO of SportsPlayMotion and Director of Motion4Kids. Sport has been a defining part of my life ever since I moved from Germany to England at the age of 11. Adjusting to a new environment came with its challenges, but sport quickly became my safe space, a place where I felt included, confident, and free. From school PE to football and boxing, I discovered not only the joy of movement but the life skills that shape who I am today: leadership, resilience, teamwork, and discipline.
Those experiences inspired my commitment to creating safe, supportive environments for young people, especially those facing challenges of their own. At SPM and Motion4Kids, I’m dedicated to using sport as a tool to build character, strengthen communities, and open doors for every child, no matter their background. My mission is simple, to lead with purpose, empower our champions, and drive the values that continue to guide everything we do.
